An assessor is a specialist who calculates the value of property.
The value calculated by the assessor is then used as the basis
for determining the amounts to be paid or assessed for taxes.
The Town of Mohawk's Assessor is an appointed official charged
with determining the value of each taxable property in our Township;
this information is then used to determine the necessary rate of
taxation to support the community's annual budget.
Our mission is to serve the taxpayers by efficiently valuing
and assessing all real estate for municipal and school tax purposes.
Our department maintains the assessment rolls, tax maps, and
real estate registry of the ownership for all real estate in
the Town of Mohawk. We strive to provide useful information
and courteous service to the public.
Stella Gittle has served as the Chairperson for the Elected
Board of Assessors in the Town of Glen and has been a member
of the New York State Assessor's Association
since 2000. She became a New York State
Certified Assessor upon the completion of the required
state courses in 2001 and a State Certified
